A Flock of Birds Compete for Spring! Large Numbers of Migratory Birds Arrive in Minqin Shigong River National Wetland Park, Gansu
It's precisely the season of lush grass and singing birds, coinciding with the migratory season of. Recently, staff at the Gansu Minqin Shigong River Wetland Park Administration photographed a large number of foraging at Hongya Mountain Reservoir and upstream river channels. Water birds leisurely strolling and soaring through the air, accompanied by the cheerful chirping of birds, making full use of the spring sunshine.








Since March, with the warming weather, (Suo Yue He - Scythian Osprey), (Bai Wei Hai Chou - White-tailed Eagle), (Bai Pi Lu - Swan Geese), (Hui He - Gray Crane), (Feng Tou Die - Mandarin Duck), (Cang Lu - Black-crowned Night Heron) and other water birds have begun their migratory journeys. As an important stopover site on two bird migration routes – the Central Asia and East Asia-Australia routes, Shigong River Wetland provides excellent feeding and resting environments for passing migratory water birds. According to monitoring and surveys conducted by the Shigong River Wetland Park Administration, since March 15th, the water bird population and number in Shigong River Wetland have increased significantly, with the passage and migration of Scythian Ospreys, Gray Cranes, Large White Egrets, Brown-headed Gulls and other water birds reaching over 10,000 individuals.
