Zhoushan, Zhejiang: Police Promptly Rescue National Grade II Protected Animal – Grass Owl





On February 23, 2020, police from the Pudong District Public Security Sub-Bureau of Zhoushan City, Zhejiang Province, promptly rescued a national Grade II protected animal, the grass owl. At around 13:00 on that day, police received a report from a citizen, who discovered a strange bird in the ( -). Police immediately responded and took the bird to the Public Security Sub-Bureau. After examination, police found that the bird had minor injuries to its legs, otherwise it was in good condition, and subsequently provided the bird with simple disinfection treatment and some water. Through professional personnel identification by relevant departments, it was confirmed that this was a national Grade II protected animal, commonly known as grass owl, monkey face hawk, monkey hawk, and white-chested grass owl. Subsequently, police plan to release the bird back into nature after it recovers.
