Tens of Thousands of Migratory Birds Arrive, Beijing's Miyun Reservoir Becomes a 'Bird Paradise' – Can You Identify Them?
Snow melts, and all things revive. The Mǐyún Water Reservoir also welcomes the arrival of migratory birds. On June 2, the Mǐyún Water Reservoir Management Office informed reporters that,Great Egrets, Little Egrets, White Herons, Black Herons, Cormorants, and tens of thousands of migratory birds have successively flown in from the south, making Beijing, this ‘big water basin’, a ‘bird paradise’.

In the Mǐyún Water Reservoir, Green-headed Ducks and various autumn shovel ducks frolic and forage in the reeds; proud Black Herons stand motionless on branches, only launching into a dive to hunt, showcasing their uniqueness with their beautiful figures; elegant White Herons, with their feathers as white as snow, come in groups and gracefully swim on the shimmering water surface; and also the national first-class protected species autumn shovel ducks appeared, playing in the reservoir area.

In recent years, the Mǐyún Water Reservoir Management Office has taken a series of effective measures to better carry out water ecological protection work, strengthen water quality monitoring, carry out joint law enforcement, and severely crack down on all kinds of water-related illegal behaviors, and continuously increase ecological protection efforts. The obvious improvement of the ecological environment is attracting more rare animals to inhabit here.
