A ‘Strange Bird’ Appears in a Villager’s Home in Le’an County – Forest Police Reveal Its Significance!
On March 6th, in Yaofang Village, Zhaoqiaozhen Town, Le’an County, villager Ge Pengfei was feeding pigeons as usual when he discovered a ‘hawk’ chasing his pigeons. He caught it and brought the unknown, injured bird to the Le’an County Forest Public Security Bureau Zhaoqiaozhen Police Station.
The police carefully cared for it and conducted a physical examination of its condition, and after data comparison,it was determined that the bird was a national Level II protected wild animal, the Hooded Hawk.

Ge Pengfei said: ‘This afternoon, I was resting at home and heard the pigeons calling. I came out and saw a ‘hawk’ chasing my pigeons. The pigeons had nowhere to hide, so they flew into the cave, and the hawk also chased into the cave. I saw it desperately encircling the cave entrance, and then I used a fishing net to surround it, and then I grabbed the ‘hawk’ out. I didn’t know what it was at the time, and I heard that the police station in the town was promoting wildlife protection, so I immediately took it to the police station.’

After more than two hours of observation, the Hooded Hawk’s vital signs were stable and suitable for release. On the same day, staff members of the Le’an County Forest Public Security Bureau Zhaoqiaozhen Police Station transported the Hooded Hawk to a forest area near Zhaoqiaozhen Town to return to nature.

The director of the Zhaoqiaozhen Police Station of the Le’an County Forest Public Security Bureau, Yang Jiping, said that in recent years, the police station has increased its publicity efforts for the protection of wild animals, and the public’s awareness of wildlife protection has obviously improved.

According to reports, Le’an County has organized a special action to combat and destroy wildlife crime resources throughout the county. Since then, the Le’an County Forest Public Security Bureau has increased its publicity efforts, and the police go wherever they go, and they publicize wildlife protection laws and regulations. They have warned a batch of lawbreakers and enhanced the awareness of the residents in the area for the protection of wild animals.
