Upon receiving the report, on-duty police officers quickly rushed to the scene. The informant told the police that the hawk had been taken in by Xihe Police Station on-duty officers. The sub-bureau police officers immediately rushed to Xihe Police Station to receive the hawk. The kind citizen told the police: "When he found the hawk, it was scavenging at the garbage station, probably due to excessive hunger, it looked very weak, when approaching it, it struggled with its wings and moved two steps forward, but couldn't take off." The kind citizen considered that if not rescued in time, this hawk would probably starve to death, so he called the police for help.

Subsequently, the on-duty police officers of the Guotan Forest Public Security Sub-Bureau sent the hawk to Yunnan Wild Plant and Animal Rescue and Breeding Center. "This is a Grey-backed Hawk, which belongs to Grade II protected wild animals. After our preliminary examination, the hawk has no major problems, there are no obvious injuries on its body. It may be due to a long time without finding food, which caused it to be somewhat weak, we initially judged it was due to hunger and unable to fly, we will provide it with restorative feeding during this period, and then we will release it back into nature."
