Rabbit-rat with Rabbit-like Body Size and Fluffy Fur


Feather-tailed rabbit-ratalso known as the Western rabbit-rat, formerly widespread across Western Australia but now restricted to the islands of Bernier and Dirk in Western Australia.


Feather-tailed rabbit-rat, is a small-bodied animal, with a body length of 31-39 cm, a tail length of approximately 30 cm, and a weight of 800-1500 grams, with fur that is reddish-gray. They are solitary, nocturnal, and herbivorous.


Feather-tailed rabbit-rat has been listed as a vulnerable species due to environmental problems. They are currently being reintroduced to the Australian mainland, especially in the Tanami Desert of Northern Territory.
