Like ‘Bamboo outside peach blossoms three or two branches, spring river warms ducks know first’. Recently, reporters saw dozens of wild bird species, including green ducks, mandarin ducks, khaki ducks, black-shouldered stilts, white storks, etc., in the riverfront of Xinqinhu Coke Factory. Some were freely flying and fleeting, others leisurely strolling and playing in the water, and some were grooming by the water, beautiful and charming. As it is the mating season for mandarin ducks, these adorable sprites chase, play, forage, and battle in the warm sunshine, creating a lively and interesting scene. The birdsong rose and fell repeatedly, creating a beautiful spring painting with the peach blossoms in the mountains.
Ecology knows only by birds; Xinqinhu is everywhere because of birds. In recent years, with the proposal of ‘Green County Construction, Building Beautiful Xinqinhu’ strategy by the county, Xinqinhu Coke Factory responded actively and, while upgrading the atmospheric pollution control facilities in the factory area, regularly cleared weeds and debris in the riverfront of the factory, assigned specialized personnel to clean up riverbank debris weekly, released fish seedlings into the river annually, and dispatched personnel to supervise the river, striving to make the river a scenic view of the factory. It turned out that a heart-felt effort brought about a good ecological environment, attracting numerous birds to rest on the clear water, presenting a new atmosphere of green ecology under a black economy, no longer just an abstract slogan.
