Tourist Attractions Closed in Multiple Countries – It's More Than Just a Ban on Entering

The situation reached this point, many people did not expect it. During the Chinese New Year, everyone was focusing on the development of the matter, but many people were more willing to believe that after the end of the statutory holiday, they could return to their jobs normally, never having thought that even after entering March, the first quarter of 2020 was about to end, and there was no recovery of the return to work date. For the tourism industry, this blow was even greater, simply prohibiting people from going out cut off all sources of customers. Of course, at that time, no travel agency dared to receive tourists.

However, according to reports, during the 2020 Spring Festival, there were also other choices, namely outbound travel. At that time, the situation abroad was indeed better than domestic. But with the upgrade to a global event, the current situation at home is much better than abroad now. Just recently, many tourist attractions in multiple countries have started to close, directly blocking tourists outside the door. This should also be a way of effectively controlling the spread, similar to what China did.

American amusement parks started to close

On March 13, the Disney theme park in California, USA, announced its closure. The closure of the Disney theme park triggered a wave of closures in American attractions. Although many ordinary residents were unwilling and accused it of being an unethical practice, it could not stop the closure. The first Disney theme park in the world closed in this way temporarily.

Actually, as early as February 2nd, the United States had completely banned Chinese people from entering the territory, and any foreigners who had recently visited China were also included in the list. This shows that the closure of American attractions has little to do with foreign tourists, at least not at all.

Thailand stopped issuing on-arrival visas

Since 2018, the Thai tourism industry has entered a trough due to various events. In order to attract Chinese tourists to consume and drive out-bound tourism, Thailand launched a visa fee exemption policy for 17 months. Although the fee was not much, it became a hot topic of discussion again. Because Thai tourism is very cost-effective, and it repeatedly reduced the visa handling process and reduced expenses, it became a major highlight.

However, affected by this incident, on March 11, Thailand issued a message to suspend on-arrival visas for multiple countries. This time period is as long as six months, and as of September 30, it is still in effect.

This means that to travel to Thailand, you must apply for a visa at the Thai embassy or consulates in China, where there are only 9 places to apply for visas. Now, you can't expect to be able to apply for a visa to travel to Thailand.

Taj Mahal in India

Regarding India, you might start with the image of a motorcycle carrying a person on the internet. Because of this image, more people called India a weird country. But with the import of Indian songs and movies, people saw a different India.

India became one of the destinations for Chinese outbound tourists. Their mother river, the Ganges, is known to be dirty, but it is one of the places to visit in India.

The Taj Mahal is one of the most well-known historical sites in India and is a World Heritage Site, so the Taj Mahal is a fixed point on the Indian travel list. However, according to a message released on March 17, the Taj Mahal has started to close to tourists, and the current period is scheduled to be 31st March. The memorial and museums are also closed.

Of course, many more countries are now closing attractions to avoid crowds and prevent the spread. By June, it will be difficult for tourists to travel abroad not only because the destinations are closed, but also because of visa and transportation problems.

According to the notice, this year's Labor Day holiday is 5 days, so domestic tourism will usher in a peak. I wonder if major scenic spots and travel agencies can seize this opportunity.
