Must-Visit Attractions in Guangzhou: A Memorable Trip

Guangdong Province's Canton is widely known and recognized by everyone, and its economic development is the first impression it leaves. However, you may not know that it is also a city with deep humanistic history, beautiful natural scenery, and rich folk customs. If you haven't been there yet, be sure to find time to experience it.

There are so many tourist attractions in Guangdong. To make your choice more convenient, I’ve specially listed a few representative attractions for you to reference.

Little Waist (Xia Man Yao)

Whenever you mention Guangzhou, tourists will inevitably think of ‘Little Waist’. In fact, its true identity is the Guangzhou New TV Station. However, due to its excessively charming appearance, people prefer to call it ‘Little Waist’. It is like a postcard of Guangzhou, and seeing it can instantly bring to mind Guangzhou.

Little Waist is the first high-rise tower in China, and it ranks second in the world. Its total height reaches 600 meters. Besides its attractive exterior, it also boasts the world’s longest aerial walk-through cloud bridge – Spider-Man Bridge, the world’s tallest Ferris wheel, the world’s tallest revolving restaurant, and the world’s tallest vertical accelerating descent. You may have heard about the 422-meter observation deck in Dubai's Burj Khalifa, have you ever heard of Little Waist’s 488-meter observation deck?

Here, you can overlook the entire Lingnan region, as well as the night view of the Pearl River. It’s a feeling of commanding all the mountains with a single glance. This scene is too beautiful to be adequately described with beautiful and exquisite descriptions.

Kaiping Diaolou (Openwork Houses)

Everyone who has watched ‘The White Lotus’ must have seen this place, which is the location where the movie was filmed. Since 2007, it has officially been listed as the first World Cultural Heritage site in Guangdong, and it’s a great achievement.

Kaiping Diaolou was initially built in the late Ming Dynasty, and most of the builders were overseas Chinese returning home. Therefore, the architectural features of this place are a combination of Chinese and Western styles, which might seem a bit chaotic, but this feeling is its charm. It also has defensive and flood prevention functions.

To date, there are about 1000 well-preserved diaolou, and the most famous are Tangkou Town, Chakan Town, and Baihe Town. If you have the opportunity, you must go to explore them.

South China Sea Ship No. 1 (Nan Hai Dao Yu No. 1)

South China Sea Ship No. 1 is the name of an ancient shipwreck, which is now collected in the Guangdong Shanghai Silk Road Museum. This ship is very famous, it is the earliest, largest, and most well-preserved trade ship discovered in China. More than 8 million artifacts were found on board, with a total value of over US 10 billion.

After seeing it, you should also take a look at the live-action salvage process, which is a vivid archaeological lesson. It's amazing to slowly pull it up from the sea, one by one, and then clean and preserve the artifacts – it's really shocking.

Hailing Island (Hai Ling Island)

Hailing Island is one of the most beautiful islands in China, known for its beautiful scenery. It boasts gentle sunshine, fine sand and vast oceans, perfectly combined to create this beautiful scene. The Gold Sand Beach is very famous, don’t miss it!

Shaanxi Ancient Town (Shaanxi Gudian Town)

Shaanxi Ancient Town is now over 800 years old. The buildings in the town are well-preserved, with halls, temples, and commercial ruins. The architectural forms of the town are very rich, with wood carvings and stone carvings, and are very characteristic of Lingnan. Each building is exquisitely crafted.

There are too many interesting things in Guangzhou to introduce completely, I strongly recommend that you come here to experience it yourself.
