Many tourists visiting Thailand enjoy buying jewelry, but this can encounter scams. Jewelry store owners will try to persuade potential victims to buy, especially on a special day, possibly in collusion with someone posing as a buyer. These cheap gems are often worthless stones or artificial synthetic materials.

Most bars in Thailand's major cities are crowded with girls acting as receptionists, hosts, and waitresses. In addition, there is another group of girls who act as drink promoters, their sole purpose being to encourage more male customers to buy drinks. For many careless single male travelers, these friendly and flirtatious young girls seem cute and harmless, so it's easy for them to buy them drinks until the bill comes and they realize the drinks are too expensive.

This is particularly evident on Patpong, where you will receive a different, unusual, and 'special' show menu performed by actresses. Some of these you may have heard of from various online blogs, posts, or videos, your curiosity taking the lead, you think the show is free because you don't plan to stay for long, you have time for a drink. After finishing the drink, you are presented with the bill, and it is shockingly expensive.

Some tuk-tuk drivers will offer you a city tour that looks cheap and appealing, but it's a scam. They will take you to the places they promised, but you must also go to a tailor shop, a jewelry store, or other unwanted or unwelcome places. They cannot force you to buy any products and/or services, but they may put pressure on you, which can be annoying and time-wasting.
