Chongqing Reservoir Introductions

Located in Changshou District, Chongqing, the dam site is in Liziba Town. It is mainly for power generation, with flood control functions as well. It is also known as Changshou Lake. In August 1954, the State built a dam to intercept and construct a hydropower station in the area of Liziba Town, Changshou District; in October 1956, power generation began, forming the Lion Beach Reservoir. The main dam is a dam-type, with a maximum height of 52m, a dam top length of 1014m, and a water level of 350m for the design and verification flood. The normal water level of the reservoir is 347m, and the total reservoir capacity is 10.27 billion cubic meters, with an effective reservoir capacity of 7.48 billion cubic meters. The inflow into the reservoir accounts for 50% of the annual average flow in the reservoir area.

Located to the west of Changshou District, adjacent to Chongqing's Yubei District. About 30 kilometers from Changshou City. The Great Flood Lake was formed in 1958 when the Great Flood River Power Station was constructed at Qingyunxia, with a dam built to intercept the Qingyin River. It belongs to a natural scenic area. The lake area spans Changshou and neighboring Ninghu towns. The water surface is in a branching shape, and the control area of the reservoir is 90 kilometers long. The area of the reservoir is 43 square kilometers, and the total storage capacity is 1.6 billion cubic meters. The terrain of the lake area is flat, and the water surface is wide and vast. There are many islands in the lake, and the Lake Hougang Misli is mysterious, so it is known as "Thousand Islands Great Flood Lake".

Located in the foot of the Ba Yue Mountains across the Jade Dragon Town, Longshui Town and Tongqiao Street, the water area is more than 5000 acres. It is 20 kilometers from Da'ezhi City and 100 kilometers from Chongqing City, belonging to the River system. It is a medium-sized water engineering project with urban water supply, rural drinking water, flood control and tourism as its comprehensive utilization. The construction of the reservoir started in December 1958, and was completed in July 1959. The engineering hub consists of a main dam, nine subsidiary dams, an overflow dam and left and right, Taidian and Wutian discharge pipes, west mountain diversion and Seixing River replenishment canal. The reservoir’s collection area is 16 square kilometers, and the total storage capacity is 1640 million cubic meters.

Named because it is located in the middle reaches of the Gaochi Two Splits River in Chongqing's Yubei District. It was started in 1977. The dam and hub structure has been completed. The dam height of the reservoir is 43.3 meters, and the reservoir collects an area of 68.3 square kilometers. The maximum storage capacity is 3660 million cubic meters, the maximum water depth is 32.5 meters, and the normal water surface (altitude 420.5 meters) is 215,000 square meters. After completion, it can guarantee irrigation of about 0.53 million hectares of farmland.

Located in, Golden Sand Gorge Town, Shenxian Cave Group, Dengjia Gorge, belonging to the Black Stream River Basin of the Jiang River, approved by the Chongqing Municipal Government as the first-level water source protection area for drinking water. The reservoir started construction in 1971 and was completed in 1980, with a total storage capacity of 1128 million cubic meters, designed to irrigate an area of 256,000 mu, and the majestic arched dam created a rare high-altitude artificial lake in the Bashu area, and is a witness to China’s victory or die, and thus named ‘Victory Heaven Lake’. The dam site is about 5 kilometers from the downstream Golden Sand Gorge Town, and the reservoir area is 1.5 square kilometers, with a water depth of 39 meters and a total storage capacity of 1595 million cubic meters. The Victory Heaven Lake has four sides surrounded by mountains, with majestic and winding mountains, and picturesque lake scenery. It enjoys the beauty of ‘Human Paradise’ in Huaying Mountain.

The project is located on the upper reaches of the Sha River, which belongs to the Big River Branch Stream in the border area of Da'ezhi and Zhongcounty, and is a Class III medium-sized water engineering project with urban water supply and agricultural irrigation. The main dam of the project is a C15 buried stone concrete gravity dam, with a length of 108.48 meters, a maximum height of 31.5 meters, and a dam top width of 8 meters; the normal water level of the reservoir is 400.00 meters, and the dam top level is 402.50 meters, with a collection area of 158.68 square kilometers, and the total runoff above the dam is 8400 million cubic meters. The normal reservoir capacity is 1603 million cubic meters.
