Xingkai Lake Nature Reserve Welcomes Large Flock of Migratory Birds, Observing Over 40,000 Birds in a Day
Longan News reported (reporters Wang Meng) China's largest migratory bird stopover, Xingkai Lake, welcomed the return of migratory birds. As of now, migratory birds north to Xingkai Lake Nature Reserve are mainly cranes and geese, with the most observed at over 40,000 birds in a single day. It is expected that Xingkai Lake Nature Reserve will see the peak migration period in late March and early April.
With the warming of the weather and the melting of ice and snow, Xingkai Lake National Nature Reserve, located on the Sino-Russian border, welcomed a large number of migratory birds. The migratory birds flew in flocks, played in the water, and brought (brought vibrant life) to the frozen lake.
Xingkai Lake is a Sino-Russian border lake, the largest migratory bird stopover in Northeast Asia. Tens of thousands of ducks, geese, and gulls stay and reproduce here annually, with over 170,000 migratory birds exceeding the daily count during the spring peak period.
Xingkai Lake wetland is an international important wetland, with a wetland area of 2225 square kilometers, connected to the Russian wetland, and is one of the world's largest three wetlands. The wetland is rich in wild flora and fauna, with 285 species of important migratory birds, 9 species of national level protected birds, and 41 species of second level protected birds.

Xingkai Lake Nature Reserve is one of the main breeding grounds for the critically endangered Danzhi Crane (Red-crowned Crane), Oriental White Stork, White-bellied Sea Eagle, Golden Eagle.
According to local photographer Li Rongxian, since mid-March each year, various migratory birds begin to return, including Oriental White Stork, White-bellied Sea Eagle, White Spoonbill, Black-faced Spoonbill, White Egret, Black Egret, White Egret, various types of ducks, and the lakeside scenery is very beautiful, so photographers are very willing to come here to shoot various birds.
