The poem by Tang Dynasty poet Du Fu says: 'The western peak is tall and majestic, the peaks stand proudly like grandchildren.' As is well-known, the five main peaks of Huashan, located in the east, west, south, and north, and in the middle, are the main areas for tourists to explore. However, in addition to these 5 main peaks, there are more than 70 other peaks surrounding and guarding them. Among these peaks, 36 are named, such as 'Three Elders.' These peaks, some of which are inaccessible, but their majestic and rugged appearance are also the best choices for tourists to take photos and capture.
White Cloud Peak
White Cloud Peak is located north of Cloud Peak and Mirror Peak, with white stones like snow and white clouds swirling around it. It is also known as Princess Peak, named after Princess Nanyang who lived in seclusion here.
Legends about White Cloud Peak are also widely circulated. According to 'Records of Strange Events,' Han Emperor Liu Shuang's daughter, Princess Nanyang, was married to official Wang Xian. At the time, the regent Wang Mang held the power, and the princess saw the country in danger and chaos, and advised Wang Xian to live alone and avoid the turmoil. Wang Xian refused, so the princess left the palace alone and came to White Cloud Peak to meditate. After one year of cultivation, she achieved success and passed away peacefully. Wei Guangxiu, the governor of Huizhou during the chaotic royal court struggles, realized the princess's warning and came to Huashan to find her. With the help of a shepherd, he found the princess's red embroidered shoes on the northern ridge of White Cloud Peak, and he bent down to pick them up. The shoes had turned into stone. Therefore, people called the place where the shoes were found 'Crane Bow Ridge', and White Cloud Peak was also called 'Princess Peak.'
Measure Peak
Measure Peak is located south of Cloud Peak and Mirror Peak, across the gorge from Cloud Peak and Mirror Peak. Because when standing at the peak, you can see Xian Peak close at hand, you can measure it with your hand, so it is named 'Measure Peak'. Legend has it that there were two pairs of scholars, Liang and Zhang, who lived in seclusion on the mountain, so later people also called it Liang Zhang Mountain.
Measure Peak is lower than the main peaks of Huashan, but the peaks are steep and dangerous, with cliffs and rock formations that are strikingly bare, with rock stratification that is remarkably beautiful. Its creation is like a painter's masterpiece. Especially when bathed in sunlight, it is even more dazzling and magnificent, heroic and grand. Climbing Measure Peak is very steep, so only a few feather-clad warriors could climb the peak.
Three Elders Peak
Three Elders Peak is located on the west side of Cloud Peak, and it is one of the peaks of Cloud Peak. 'Lotus Lantern' legend says that the three goddesses were persecuted by the god of war and were pressed under a stone under the western peak. Her son, Xiang Shenghua, came to rescue her, but did not know exactly where she was pressed. So he stood here and cried for her. The mountain god was moved by her filial piety, so he helped her to open the stone, and the mother and son were reunited. Therefore, people called this peak ' filial son peak', and the peak is also known as ' Lotus Lantern peak'. The peak has eight-character pool, old man's cave, lotus lantern, etc.
The lotus lantern peak and temple buildings were destroyed during the Republic of China period and the 'Cultural Revolution'. The lotus lantern is rebuilt in 1989. The lotus lantern and temple buildings are rebuilt in 1989.
Five Cloud Peak
Five Cloud Peak is located on the Dragon Ridge, under the Golden Lock Pass. It is a north-south peak. Its west side is steep and deep, and the cliffs are steep. The east side is relatively flat, which is the main route for climbing the east, west, south, and north three main peaks. The peak's name comes from the fact that the pines and maples are always accompanied by clouds, so it is named 'Five Cloud Peak'. Also, because the peak is located in the center of the four main peaks, it was also called 'Middle Peak.'
Five Cloud Peak has many natural landscapes, with pine and cypress as the most. Famous ones include Eight-Old Cave, Horse Stone, General's Face, Single Bridge, Old Pine, Couple Pine, Tiger Pine, Plum Pine, etc.
Besides these, there are Three Elders Peak, Phoenix Mountain, Pine Cypress Peak, Arrow Quiver Peak, Stone Platform Peak, Small West Peak, Jade Dew Peak, Stone Column Peak, Nuwa Peak, etc.
