Catching Hand Rock Park Welcomes Tourists, Continuing the Nostalgia of Two Shores

Catching Hand Rock resembles a giant hand, welcoming tourists from all directions.

Fuzhou News Network, March 24th (Fuzhou Evening News reporter Lei Yilan, Zheng Ruiyang, trainee reporter Wang Yueling, Chen Shangyan/writer, trainee reporter Lin Shuangwei/photographer) 'This is just like my palm, it seems to be waving to tourists.' Recently, Zheng Yi Xuan, a young visitor who came to the newly built Zhao Shu Yan Park for the first time with his parents, had full of curiosity in his eyes.

'When I was a child, my grandmother took me here, we could look at Mazuo, we also called it Pan Gui Yan.' 'It used to be a mountain road, it took half an hour to get here. This stone is the hometown nostalgia of many Huang Qi people, and it also created the saying 'Without coming to Zhao Shu Yan, you haven't truly visited Huang Qi Port.' On the Huang Qi town road, a giant stone resembling a hand sits on the hillside, standing alone and unyielding, which is what the local villagers call 'Zhao Shu Yan.'

The reporter saw that the giant stone was about 15 meters high and 5 meters wide, with 'five fingers' complete, and the 'palm' felt textured. Standing in front of the rock, you could overlook the Huang Qi National Center Fishery Port, with fishing boats dotted all over the place; in the distance was the Mazuo Island, with misty waters.

According to Mr. Wu Yongheng, a Party History Expert in Lianjiang, the peculiarity of this rock also lies in a legend. During the Southern Song Dynasty, Wen Tianxiang was pursued by Yuan army in the sea around Huang Qi and Mazuo. At that time, the imperial court had not yet dispatched troops. In desperation, Wen Tianxiang bit off a piece of his robe with his fingers at the hillside of Jia Chi Mountain in Huang Qi, using 'blood palm imprint robe' to issue orders. This 'blood palm imprint robe' turned into Zhao Shu Yan. Afterwards, the people of Lianjiang regarded Wen Tianxiang as 'a god of good fortune' and expressed their grief.

'Warm as spring breeze, Jia Chi Mountain blows east wind. On both sides of the East and West Dog Island, in the mist and haze of the North and South Fishing Ponds.' 50 years ago, Guo Mo Er came to Huang Qi and wrote such moving verses at Zhao Shu Yan.

'Huang Qi was formerly known as Li Shan, Mazuo was formerly known as Wai Shan, the two places were connected by a strip of water, and we are blood relatives. We also call Zhao Shu Yan 'Pan Gui Yan,' hoping it can become a common hometown memory for the Mazuo and two coasts.' Mr. Huang Duanming, the Secretary of the Huang Qi Party Committee, said that Huang Qi was built according to the national 3A-level scenic standards, integrating mystery, tourism, and cross-strait exchange functions. The park covers about 10 acres with a total construction area of 4500 square meters, built in two phases. Currently, the first phase of 1200 square meters viewing platform, exquisite stone carvings, night-time lighting system has been completed, and it will be open to tourists next month. The second phase will build national-level cross-strait exchange center, tourist reception center and other facilities.

In the future, this park will link up with chimneys top park, park and other coastal parks, continuously improve the livable quality and tourist environment, and make Huang Qi more beautiful.
