Is Wugongshan in Pingxiang Worth Visiting? Affordable Tickets and Authentic Experience
Always dreaming of the outdoor hiking route, it finally came true when the country adjusted the May holiday, and we went to Wugongshan in Pingxiang. Although we had standing tickets all the way, we were still so excited! If you're planning a self-torturous trip, this travelogue might help you. Let's first talk about equipment. For beginners, you can bring less or no supplies (water, food) because the route is very mature and there are convenient supplies along the way, but the prices are generally on the higher side, a bottle of water is 10 yuan, functional drinks like Bull are about 15-20 yuan.
You might be shocked at how expensive that is, but on the way, we saw porters carrying a cart up the mountain, and we saw an old man who was probably over 60, with a hunched back, using a cane to carry things up the mountain. And all the houses on the mountain were carried up by the porters. Good hiking shoes can save you a lot of effort. This time, we didn't encounter rain, so the road was relatively easy to walk, watching those people wearing sandals struggling behind those who were desperately climbing the steep slopes made us sweat. The weather on the mountain is changeable, so a raincoat is necessary.
Bring extra sets of quick-drying pants. After two days of hiking, our clothes were wet and dry. Sun protection (hats, sunglasses, sunscreen) If you don't want to return with a darkened complexion, please make adequate preparations. The temperature difference between day and night on the mountain is significant, so it's best to bring a compression down jacket or fleece inner layer, as well as a waterproof and breathable jacket. Because it was my first time going to Wugongshan, I went with friends, and the route was reverse Wugongshan. First, let's look at the overall map. The overall intensity wasn't that great. Three days can be completed. Because our team was large and people's physical condition was varied, we didn't go to Mingyue Mountain. We stopped at Fayunzui instead. The total route was: Shizicun, Tie Ti Ping, Gold Summit (Wugongshan's main peak White Crane Peak), Cuama, Desolate Slope, Fayunzui, Longshan Village. We stayed for two nights at Gold Summit and Fayunzui, and the accommodation conditions were really poor, at least the worst I've experienced on my travels.
Personally, I think the stage of climbing from Shizicun is the most tiring part of the whole trip. Before descending, we finally saw Yunhai (Cloud Sea), which was a bit comforting. Three days in Wugongshan, it didn't give me a big visual impact, but for new hikers, it's a good training opportunity. Overall, it's still worth going, the ticket price is not expensive, it's 70 yuan per person, both up and down the mountain are included. Basically, it's quite original, not much, and commercialization is not harmful. There's a cable car, you don't need the cable car, it requires considerable strength to climb to the top. There's only one hotel at the foot of the mountain, the conditions are generally poor, of course much better than on the mountain, parking is very convenient.
