The World's First Nation to Submerge, No Independent ATMs, Land Area Only 26 Square Kilometers
On this Earth, there are many countries, and we usually know some of the most powerful ones on the international stage. Therefore, many small countries are often overlooked by everyone. Even if you hear their names, you may not necessarily think of them as countries. Some countries are not only small in area but also have poor economic development, making them easily ignored. For example, the country I'm going to talk about today.
It is Tuvalu, a very small country. You might have difficulty finding it on a map, as it's located in the South Pacific and consists of nine ring-shaped coral island groups. It's extremely small, with a land area of only 26 square kilometers – the second smallest island nation in the world. The total population is only 10,698, which is roughly equivalent to a relatively large village in China.
Such a small country has highly concentrated buildings, with the airport serving as the center. Although there are banks, there are no ATMs or credit cards. What's most surprising is that they almost don't use their own currency, but rather Australian currency. Furthermore, there's no tourism industry here. However, it's undeniable that the scenery is really beautiful.
As a small country, transportation isn't very developed, with only two large buses. The rest are motorcycles and bicycles. It's amazing how much I've learned, and it feels like this country is almost like a better-off village in China. Except for the airport, of course! But it's precisely because of this that the people living here are simple, and their lives are very basic. Environmental protection is also very good.
Unfortunately, out of the nine ring-shaped coral reefs, three have already disappeared due to rising sea levels caused by the greenhouse effect. This leads many to believe that this country won't last for many years before being submerged by the sea. Based on the current situation, this prediction is almost coming true, and this country will soon become the world's first country to sink beneath the sea.
It is reported that the island residents have begun to seek help, hoping to let a country accommodate them. Since China has had very good relations with this country over the years, the locals believe that people from other countries would be welcome to live in China. We just don't know which city they will choose to live in!
