The village of Eerana, Rajasthan, has only three months of monsoon season with rainfall exceeding 90% of the annual total, and the other nine months have almost no rainfall. Therefore, during droughts, the lives and crops of farmers are very difficult. So, in the 10th century, the kings of India built the Moon Well here to preserve precious rainwater.

The Moon Well has 3500 steps, and anyone who enters will feel dizzy. Today, many tourists also come to witness this ancient place. Because the well nourishes many local villagers, they affectionately call it 'Mother Well'.

From a design and functional perspective, the Moon Well is a perfect combination of exquisite beauty. This place can be considered the highest invention of the Indians. Adding to this, the place has a history of 1200 years, which must be admired for the wisdom of the Indian labor people.

Because the valve is set at the bottom of the well at the time of design, the villagers can draw water by adjusting the valve to raise the water level, and the water directly flows from the bottom of the well to the underground water. Therefore, the villagers will never worry about water shortages throughout the year.

The design of this well is unique and has attracted many tourists to visit. If something accidentally falls into it, it cannot be retrieved because there are many steps, and many people see the dense steps and are dizzy, which must be admired for the ingenuity of the Indian stonemasons.

Moreover, in the summer, many people will come down the steps to the bottom for cool respite. And the nearest steps to the well are 800 years old. Archaeologists believe that there was a concept of step wells before 600 AD, and the technology of step well construction was formed around 600 years ago, thus creating a history of step wells over a thousand years.
