Taiyuan to Promote Construction of Fen River Fitness and Culture Walking and Cycling Pathway! More Places for Fitness and Leisure Will Be Available in the Future!
Leveraging Taiyuan Lake and other water systems, we will build a beautiful blue belt city with clear waters and green shores; scientifically delineate ring-city ecological leisure zones; greenways will be planned and constructed together with new districts. On April 9, the ‘Action Plan for Improving the Quality of Taiyuan City’ painted a beautiful picture of the ‘Dragon City Green Living Network,’ providing citizens with more places for fitness and leisure.
Leveraging the city’s (Fen River) and (Jinyang Lake) water systems, we will build a blue belt system integrating ecology, safety, landscape, culture, and leisure. In the JinYang Lake Scenic Area and Fen River Phase IV ecological landscape construction project, we will create a mountain-lake integrated, river-lake connected, ancient-modern blended, and human-nature harmonious first-class scenic area. At the same time, we will strengthen water resource management and protection, restore water system ecological function, and form a blue belt; we will build a sponge city, do a good job of urban flood and waterlogging, and form a safe blue belt. By 2022, all counties (cities and districts) with water system conditions will complete the blue belt special planning and simultaneously promote the construction of the blue belt.
We will promote the construction of the Fen River fitness and culture walking and cycling system greenway. When constructing new districts, the greenway network will be planned and constructed together with the new districts, strengthening the walkability of the greenway network. When renovating old districts, it will be coordinated with the renovation of urban roads, old communities, and park expansion. By 2022, all counties (cities and districts) and development zones will complete the greenway special planning and build a number of characteristic greenways.
Our city will compile the ‘Taiyuan City Green Space System Plan.’ Each district will build 5 gardens and 5 green spaces each year, basically eliminating blind spots for park and garden services and improving the city’s comprehensive park and specialty park green space system. New districts will reserve space for construction, planning specialized community sports parks and small gardens. For newly constructed residential areas with conditions, they will build one football field with a capacity of more than 5 people. In the process of renovating old districts, we will utilize demolition sites to plan and construct ‘pocket parks’ and small green spaces, arrange sports activity sites and sports fitness facilities. We will implement urban landscape beautification colorization projects, planting 1 million rose flowers in the area within two years, creating a distinctive ‘City of Roses, Romantic Capital.’ Our city will also plan large green belts, river (lake) spaces, and wetland parks, forming a functional, distributed, and beautiful city green space system.
Our city will implement the construction action of the ring-city ecological leisure zone, scientifically delineate the ring-city ecological leisure zone, compile the ring-city ecological leisure zone plan, protect the ring-city ecological leisure zone’s natural mountains, water, landforms, landscape features, and biodiversity, and repair damaged mountains, restoring their natural state. At the same time, we will develop green ecological agriculture and leisure tourism agriculture. By the end of this year, all counties (cities and districts) will complete the delineation of the ring-city ecological leisure zone, and the ring-city ecological leisure zone construction will achieve a phased progress by 2022.
