Best Places for Spring Travel in Changzhou: Including a Low-Carbon Park and a "Magic Castle"
Spending too much time at home lately, with the spring weather just right, and after following the related regulations of wearing masks and not gathering, people can finally go out for a spring outing and nearby tours. People in Changzhou are no exception. It's a bit of a hassle to drive in the city center, and parking spaces are particularly limited. This time, they drove to West Lake of the Yangtze River in Wujiang for a spring outing, and found that everyone agreed, the parking lot was full.

West Lake of the Yangtze River is also known as Huahu Lake, but the people of Changzhou are used to calling it West Lake, without 'catching heat'. Even the marathon competition held here every year is called West Lake Marathon. But West Lake has nothing to do with West Lake in Hangzhou, and it's not closely related to the Yangtze River. From the map, it is indeed located in the northwest of the Yangtze River, being the second largest lake in the South of Jiangsu after the Yangtze River. It was originally named Huahu Lake due to land depression in ancient times.

Although it is the second largest lake in South Jiangsu after the Yangtze River, there is still a huge difference in size. The Yangtze River surrounds multiple cities in Jiangsu and Zhejiang. West Lake is only a small part of Wujiang District in Changzhou. Therefore, when people come here to spring, the choice of attractions will be relatively concentrated. Since the China Flower Expo Garden is not open, everyone came to Huahu Low-Carbon Wetland Park and Lan Yue Bay.

Huahu Low-Carbon Wetland Park is definitely a hidden gem of West Lake, the park is free to open, with large free parking lots on both sides. The park has a good ecological environment, with a large lawn for tourists to set up tents and spread out picnics, which is a problem-free way to spend an afternoon. The park also has a shallow pond, and the clear pond water can see many tadpoles swimming.

Lan Yue Bay Square was built with huge investment and is a very modern square. The large fountain rose into the sky with a diameter of 88 meters and a height of 100 meters. It is also a landmark of West Lake. Personally, I think Lan Yue Bay is a great place to watch the sunset. Tourists can play in Huahu Low-Carbon Wetland Park in the afternoon and watch a sunset at Lan Yue Bay in the evening. The two places are about a 10-minute drive.
If you are a foreign tourist and find that West Lake is not attractive enough for you. Then when you pass by the Hu-Wu Expressway and stop at Huahu Service Area via the Huahu Bridge, you may change your mind.

For self-driving tourists, you can completely treat this place as a scenic spot because the service area has been built for a long time, and the facilities and style are not much different from traditional service areas. But it is still very impressive to take a shot of the parking lot. Maybe it is the first impression that West Lake gives many foreign tourists.
