The official name of the Mayflower is 'Big Tree Rhododendron', a tall and upright flower with a large flower shape. Because its flower shape is similar to the red cherry tied to a horse merchant’s horse head, it is called Mayflower by the people of Yunnan.

Wild Mayflowers in Longma Mountain often grow on hillside cliffs or deep in the forest, usually on very old trees with strong branches and a sense of history, compared to the rhododendrons planted in the city, patches of Mayflowers grow wild and unrestrained in the mountains.
